Name: Captain James Saak (SAY-ek) AKA Captain James the Bloody
Age: 355
Species: Demon
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Occupation: Captain of the Lady Mary's Revenge
Faction: Eastern Pirates
Appearance:
Personality:
By far the cruelest pirate at sea, James Saak loves to pillage, rape, murder, and cause all manner of chaos. There are only two things he really wants in this world. One is to remain captain of his beloved ship until the day he dies, and the other is to be King of the Eastern Pirates.
Like all Eastern Pirates, James is capable of obeying orders, but only from a single person: whoever is the King or Queen of the Eastern Pirates. He takes orders from no one else, and would kill anyone who dares to try to order him around.
James Saak is one of the most notorious pirates that sailed the Sea of Eld. Legendary for his wicked and cruel personality, Saak is feared by many, having gained the notoriety as the 'pirate that all pirates fear.' He has little, if any, sense of morality and doesn't care for anyone but himself. Even a young missionary who believed in the goodness of all, who had been captured in a raid, believed that Saak was entirely evil and didn't think that he could be redeemed. Saak is actually aware that he's a bad man, to a point of admitting it, but simply doesn't care, making no effort to make himself into a better person.
During his life, Saak has always liked to torture people, whether they are prisoners or members of his own crew. There is a huge cage hanging outside the back of the Lady Mary's Revenge above a huge lantern on which Saak throws his victims, burning them while they are still alive. He may also punish members of his crew by forcing them to row out into the sea where he would unleash the Revenge's fire-spitting cannons. Another example of his sadistic nature was when he left a Mermaid to die a slow and painful death on a beach, leaving half her body in the water, just enough to keep her somewhat hydrated, but not enough for her to survive.
Like most pirates, Saak is an alcoholic, drinking rum and whiskey. According to legend, Saak mixes his rum in gunpowder and lights it on fire before he drinks it.
History:
Saak's history is a bloody one. Although he is a demon, no one knows who his parents were. He was found by two humans in Kattarn, who took him in and raised him, using his amazing demon strength to set him to work on their farm. They saw him as nothing but a slave, someone to work to the bone, who could survive by eating and drinking as little as possible.
One day, when he was eight, Saak had enough. He sneaked out of the barn where he was forced to sleep and headed into the bedroom of his 'parents,' having grabbed a knife from the kitchen. He then proceeded to slit their throats in their sleep. As they struggled to halt the bleeding, he tied them to the bed and sat down and watched as their lives slowly drained from them, never blinking.
Now that he was finally free, Saak fled, leaving his parents in their beds. As they hadn't told anyone of Saak, no one missed him, and no one suspected that he was the one who had killed him, allowing him to roam freely, considering his demon form looked very human, save for several tribal tattoos going up his legs, back, abdomen, chest, and arms, all of which he made sure to cover up.
Saak traveled to the lands of his own kind, to the Dark Lands, where he was immediately taken in by an Eastern Pirate, who went by the name of Scar. He wasn't very well-known, but he taught Saak all he knew about sailing and pirating, something that greatly appealed to Saak. After having spent his first eight years of life as a slave, he felt that he needed the freedom that came with being a pirate.
Even though he wasn't very notorious, Scar was a very strong swordsman, who trained Saak every day for the next ten years. Once he was skilled enough, Scar and Saak had a battle to the death, which Saak won without a scratch, having long since surpassed Scar, and with his now nineteen year old demon body, his strength couldn't be rivaled by a simple human, so he won easily.
After that, Saak's pirate career began. He was an unknown for a good thirty years, until he surfaced as the Captain of a legendary fully rigged battleship, which was called the Lady Mary's Revenge. This was said to have been built in the Stygia realm, to sail on the River Styx. If there had been any doubt about the authenticity of the ship, one needed only to look at the sword now hanging from Saak's hip, the Sword of Lady Mary, which was a broadsword with magical qualities. Saak needed to sacrifice all his demon magic and give it to the sword in order for it to work, so if separated from his sword, all he had now was his immense strength and demonic durability to rely on.
With the sword, he managed to become a world-renowned terror of the Sea of Eld. He became likened to a plague that brought nothing but death, hardly ever leaving any survivors, save for the purpose of letting people know just who did the deeds. However, since this turned out boring for Saak, he decided to go with another approach. He would leave a flag wherever he destroyed ships, to mark his victims.
Eighty-seven years ago, the Kattarn Navy was awaiting a fleet of ships from Panthros to aid them in an ongoing civil war, but all that drifted ashore was twenty-eight flags, the mark of Saak. After this, no one doubted his power as a pirate.
Despite this, though, Saak was overlooked three times when it came time for the Pirate Court to elect a new leader of the Eastern Pirates. They claimed that although Saak's wealth was immense, his skills amazing, and his notoriety legendary, he was too unstable to be the King of the Eastern Pirates.
Although enraged by this, Saak refused to change, and instead decided that when the next time to elect a leader came, he would merely destroy all opposition, so they would be forced to choose him.
So now, after the death of Queen Syndel, Saak has shifted his priorities. He no longer sees plundering as his main priority. His main goal right now is to kill all his opposition, any pirate that has been unfortunate enough to catch the Pirate Court's eye.

The Sword of Lady Mary is a broadsword forged in Stygia. According to legend, the sword originally belonged to the mighty sea deity Groosh, and has the power to control Groosh's ship, Lady Mary's Revenge, being able to make anything on the ship come to life.
Also, due to Saak's connection to the Lady Mary's Revenge, Saak has become bound to the vessel, unable to leave it for more than twenty-four hours, unless he wishes to die.
