Name: Lord Stephan Blackwood
Age: 41
Species: Human (Kattarnian)
Class: Ranger
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Occupation: Lord of House Blackwood, retired Ranger
Appearance:
Personality:
Lord Stephan Blackwood, unlike most nobles, is very laid back. He doesn't really like being a noble, and would prefer avoiding social gatherings where he cannot drink himself silly, and would rather just find some place where he can drink himself silly. He drinks a lot, a borderline alcoholic, sleeps long into the day, and won't get up until his faithful housekeeper and 'nanny,' the witch Agatha, wakes him up.
There was a time when Stephan was a wide-awake, spry young man who yearned for adventure, but that was in his youth. Now, he is retired, and prefers parties (not the uptight parties that nobles host, though), where he can talk to old friends, meet new people, and drink himself into a stupor, usually passing out over some form of furniture. This has earned him the nickname 'The Drunken Lord.'
When he's sober, Stephan is usually quite grouchy, and won't cheer up until he's had at least one drink. He hates being sober, as sobriety is usually accompanied by a skull-shattering headache that only alcohol can cure. “If you wanna avoid a hangover, never sober up,” Stephan always says, and he tries to follow that motto as often as possible.
When he's had a drink, however, Stephan is friendly and generous, and will try to get any guest in his mansion to join him for a drink.
History:
Stephan Blackwood was born to Lord Eric Blackwood and Lady Bethany Blackwood in Ukilholm. From an early age, he was thrown into studies, something he hated, but focused on nonetheless, building up a sizable intelligence. When he became a teenager however, he felt that he had gathered all the knowledge he could from books, and started leaving the mansion.
He came upon an Elven Ranger, named Akira, who took him in as her student. She taught him the ways of the Ranger, and Stephan took to it like a fish to water. Within a year, he was already on Akira's level when it came to using a bow and daggers. He even neared her level in stealth, tracking etcetera. A year after that, when Stephan managed to track down and beat Akira in a duel, the Elf decided it was time for Stephan to leave her and go out on his own journey. He did so with pride.
On his journey, Stephan encountered many creatures and went on many adventures, earning riches and fame. Unfortunately, he also discovered the 'joys of life,' as one might say, quickly spending his earnings on women and alcohol, living life to its fullest. He never went broke, however, as he managed to keep from enjoying life too much, and managed to squeeze in an adventure here and there.
When he reached the age of thirty-two, he received word that his father had passed away from an illness. He traveled back home to Ukilholm with his long-time companion and friend, the witch Agatha, and found that his mother had been struck by the same illness, passing away only two days after Stephan came back.
Now burdened with the title of Lord Blackwood, having inherited the family's vast fortune, mansion, and all the titles that came with it, Stephan could no longer return to his adventuring ways. He told Agatha that she had to go on alone, and he had to stay in Kattarn and take care of his duties, no matter how painful it was for him to do so. Agatha, already an older lady, nearing the age of fifty, decided to stay with him, as she didn't feel Stephan would survive on his own.
She took it upon herself to become his personal 'servant,' although she never really obeyed his orders, and usually just took care of him when he drank himself into a stupor. The housework and cooking, she left to the other servants.
Now, nine years later, Stephan has fallen into the habit of starting every day with a drink in his hand, and ending every day passed out with a drink in his hand.
